Vieyra Honors Foundation & Hutch Rec Co-Host Veterans 5k With VFW Pancake Feed The Vieyra Honors Foundation (VHF), in collaboration with Hutch Rec Race Series are excited to announce the Veterans Honor 5k & Fun Run to take place in Downtown Hutch November 12th. The event will kick off with a pancake feed at 7:00 AM in DCI Park hosted by VFW Post 1361. The pancake feed will also be open to the public for free will donation. When VFW Post 1361 was approached to partner with VHF on this event, they were immediately on board. Preston Pilkey, VFW Post 1361 Commander said, “The VFW Post 1361 will always be there for Veterans. We are a family-oriented VFW, which understands how truly blessed we all are.” The 5k & Fun Run is a chipped event that will begin at 8:30 AM, starting and ending between 2nd and 3rd streets on Main Street in Downtown Hutch with an awards ceremony held afterward. Each participate will receive an event t-shirt, participation medal and a ticket to the pancake feed. It is a family friendly event and allows participants to complete a 1, 2- or 3-mile loop down main through the path of Veterans Banners currently on display organized earlier this year by VHF. Marla Booher, VHF President said, “This event has something for everyone!! Even if you aren’t into running, you are invited to join us downtown & partake in the pancake feed hosted by VFW Post 1361. With this being an event to Honor our Veterans, we have also invited the KS National Guard to bring a military display and the VFW Riders will be performing the opening ceremony. All of this will take place under the 80+ Veterans banners we currently have displayed on Main Street.”, Booher said. Other local Veterans organizations and sponsors will be in attendance with event booths, including KS Honors Flight, 40 & 8 Club, and Hutchinson Regional Health Care System. 100 % of all proceeds go toward Reno County veteran’s awareness and initiatives in alignment with the VHF mission and vision.
